A great evening in good company with my concert buddy and the always charming Kim Wilde and a crowd of not exactly young women and men.
The sound was pretty awful in Amager Bio. At times we could only hear the guitar amp from one of the 2 guitarists and Kim's vocal wasn't always as clear as you could have wanted. I blame part of it on the venue that is a bit shitty to be honest and not particularly well designed for rock concerts, and I guess that some of the sound engineers didn't really earn their paycheck either.
It couldn't really spoil the good vibe or the party though. Kim was in a very joyful mood and she joked a lot about the lack of romantic enthusiasm in the Copenhagen crowd and she sounded honestly glad to be visting Denmark for the 500th time or so (she'll be playing 4 gigs in little Denmark on this tour, so obviously the danes must be loving her too.)
It is very much a family band and brother and composer Ricky is still on the guitar while Kim's sister Roxanne had been replaced by Ricky's daughter Scarlett. Kim said that her son might join on guitar when he is old enough so the future is already secured. Also in the band was the bass player Nick Beggs from Kajagoogoo wearing a skirt and a weird blonde hairdo.
Very good setlist for this show with a few surprises and a good mix of songs from Kim's career and even a new song called
Loving You More Than You
that was much of a ballad. They had quite a bunch of covers in the set tonight with: Nena:
Anyplace Anywhere Anytime
, Erasure:
A Little Respect
, Plastic Bertrand:
Ca Plane Pour Moi
(Kim thought we had a terrible french accent, and she was probably right) and Depeche Mode:
Enjoy The Silence
.
The concert almost made me forget my sore throat for a few hours, so it must have been good indeed, and I'm sure I'll be back for more the next time Kim comes visiting the Copenhagen area.
SETLIST:
Never Trust A Stranger, Perfect Girl, View From A Bridge, Can't Get Enough, Love Blonde, Second Time, Anyplace Anywhere Anytime, Love In The Natural Way, Love Is Holy, Cambodia, Loving You More Than You (NEW), Another Step, Chequered Love, Four Letter Word, A Little Respect, You Came, You Keep Me Hangin' On.
ENCORE:
Ca Plane Pour Moi, Enjoy The Silence, Kids In America.
